Monthly Computer Vision Meetup Roundup #8

Project Description

Monthly Computer Vision Meetup Roundup #8

This time people gathered at the shared office “Die Manege” for a very Microsoft focused meetup! We had the pleasure to welcome Microsoft Tech Evangelist Rina Ahmed for a very informative talk about all kinds of Cognitive Services APIs her company offers. Afterwards we jumped to the Microsoft HoloLens, started with an intro to the technical specifications and in how to develop on the HoloLens. The highlight was kept until the end: A live demo and the hands-on try out for all attendees!

Thanks to our colleagues from ViewAR, we were equipped with a total of 3 HoloLenses in order to accommodate the enthusiasm of 50 (!) meetup members!

Microsoft Cognitive Services APIs by Rina Ahmed

We were very happy to welcome Rina Ahmed, Technology Evangelist at Microsoft, who gave an intro about Microsoft Cognitive Services APIs. In the intro she covered use cases, possibilities and even showcased a .NET project from a Microsoft hackathon in order to demo, how playing around with the APIs works in practice.

HoloLens Intro + Live Demo by Peter Sperl

The next slot on the agenda focused on the beloved and hyped Microsoft HoloLens. Anyline, in possession of one of the first HoloLens Glasses in Austria, was happy to showcase the technical aspects and let all meetup members try out the awesome holographic interface. Peter, Software Developer at Anyline, was happy to walk everyone through the specs, how to develop on the glasses and then of course through all innovative controls and commands the HoloLens accepts out of the box.

Obviously, we snapped some pictures of everyone trying out the HoloLens!
