The primary challenge J&J faced was the operational burden that the existing system required manual entry of passport data for tax refund processing, which was prone to errors and inefficiencies. Moreover, by the legal requirements in Japanese tax–free system, merchants also need to entry shoppers’ Landing information on small decal put on the passport.
